Freelance Adult Education Tutor 1993 to present

I tutor in multi-media art and craft skills.Projects include:

- working for MIND delivering an art class during a weekly drop-in luncheon whilst collaborating with literacy and numeracy tutors

- allotment gardening with ex-homeless men. A diverse and challenging group who all found it inspiring and relaxing

- designing, writing and making a simple, personalized story with mothers of severley disabled children to read together as a family

- taster art and craft sessions with a wide range of community groups including the eldery, muslim women and illiterate adults to encourage them to request and enroll on community education classes

- healthy cookery on a budget with ex-homeless and mental health service users

- vegetable growing in your backgarden

- children's vegetable gardening encouraging them to grow and eat their own produce and enter it into local shows

Youth and Community worker, Bury MBC and Rossendale CC 1997-2005

I have worked in with many youth groups as an arts activity specialist and youth information adviser. Enquiries I dealt with in this role, debt, homelessness and sexual health enquiries led to me developing a pioneering multi-service, health based project called Healthy Bodies in a local secondary school.

I was the co-ordinator of a GP and school nurse and the steering group. We helped to wtite government policy and was used as a nationally important example of good practice.
