03 April 2015

anyone can sing community choir

The 75 strong Anyone Can Sing Community Choir was awarded 2nd prize at the prestigious Glasgow Music Festival in the Glasgow Royal Concert Hall on Tuesday the 17 March in the mixed voice category.

Their renditions of 'You Made Me Love You' by James Monaco and 'Streets of London' by Ralph McTell were described as "well controlled, precise and exciting" by the adjudicator Fiona Chryssides.

The Choir, which meets on Wednesday evenings in the Ballerup Hall, was founded by Alan Dick, Chair of East Kilbride Arts Council seven years ago.  The choir is directed by Diane Levey and accompanied by Lewis Buchan.

The prize certainly proves that this very special group of people are developing their musicianship, camaraderie and love of music to award winning standards.
