THE STAN TUER TANKARD REPORT FOR JULY 2022 and 2022 RESULT

What a difference a few yards of shoreline can make when you try to locate fish. This “wee purple patch” was found on our second night at Lannsaidh by Richard Crowther and one or two others, where his three fish limit was the best of the night.

Our last and third evening, saw many, who had witnessed Richard’s success, return to this area  for some of the same, before Richard had fully tackled up. There were a few fish landed more or less immediately. Things looked good for a short while only, and then anglers moved on. Richard moved quietly along the bank to his favourite spot after them, and set about showing everybody how it was done. His 3 fish limit plus one returned (his biggest of the night) was the best of the evening, and added to his previous returns, to put a new name on the trophy.

Overall, his 8 fish totalled 13lb 1ozs.

Of the 8 fish landed over this past evening, only one these was landed outwith this “purple” spot.

Hard going indeed for the rest of us.

Runner-up over the three outings, was Don Mackay with his 6 fish for 7lb 8ozs and James Wilson 3rd with his 5 fish for 7lb 3ozs.

The heaviest fish recorded over the three evenings was again Richard, at 2lb 4ozs landed on the second evening, closely followed by Gilbert Simpson at 2lb 3ozs, both fish taken from the “purple”area.

Can I thank all those members who turned up over the three evenings for their support and making the event a continuing success.

Tight lines for the rest of the season, to you all.

THE STAN TUER TANKARD OUTING REPORT FOR JUNE 2022

Unusually, we had a bit of traffic mayhem before the start of our second evening at Lannsaidh. Not however a bad thing, as we had one of the largest turnouts for the middle evening, as well our latest new member Andre Monticelli (lovely to see him there) spectating on the proceedings, for hopefully joining us on future evenings.

The fishing turned out ok as well with the majority of those present, adding to the total of 22 rainbows for just over 30lbs. Fish showed fairly regularly in certain areas of the loch.

Best on the night was Richard Crowther with his 3 fish limit weighing in at 5lb 8ozs and Gilbert Simpson next with his 3 fish limit at 5lb 10zs and Michael Banks 3rd, with his 3 fish for 3lb 15ozs.

The heaviest fish on the night was by Richard Crowther at 2lb 4ozs, indeed the heaviest fish over the two nights.

Richard also heads the table over the two nights with a combined fish weight of 8lb 9ozs. Don Mackay comes next at 7lbs 8ozs, and Gilbert Simpson third at 5lbs 1ozs.

It was for once, good to have free taking trout back on the menu, to make up for some of the disappointing evenings we have had in past years and even the weather played its part in the proceedings.

So, all to fish for in the final evening of Friday 1st July.

Thank you all for attending and making it an enjoyable night and the “craic” as always, excellent.

Thanks also to Bill Rose and Richard Dickenson for keeping the loch well stocked.

See you all next time. Michael Banks

THE STAN TUER TANKARD OUTING REPORT FOR MAY 2022

The first outing for the above, for 2022, had most members (11 hardy souls) very frustrated at the lack of action from our quarry and left early to either thaw out with a dram or cuppa after a very chilly evening.

Fish had been feeding quite heavily these past weeks on an abundance of heather beetle during the course of a day, which would add to their lethargy by a cooler evening.

Even the osprey didn’t show face either!

The dogged persistence of those few members who have been successful in the recent past, have done so again.

Don Mackay led the way with his three fish weighing-in at 4lb 3ozs, followed by

Richard Crowther with two fish for 3lb 1ozs.

Heaviest of the night went to John McKnight at 1lb 13ozs caught at the very end of the allotted time.

With not much difference between the members, a pleasant evening at our June outing could well change things around.

Thanks to all those who committed the £10 entry fee up front, for the three nights.

Regards Michael Banks
