     OUTING CONVENOR’S REPORT FOR 2021

We had a consistant number of members at each of the three evening outings to contest the Stan Tuer Tankard at Lannsaidh, with this ever present Covid pandemic dictating the timing of when we could start. This year it was June, July & August. In terms of fish caught, the June night was the better night with the bulk of the heavier fish being recorded, with Don Mackay’s three at 5lb 6ozs being the best. Six fish were weighed-in at 2lbs and over. The July night was a bit more difficult after a hot and sunny spell only four members had fish with James Wilson’s three at 2lb 8ozs , the best.  James Mackay also had his three fish limit.

The final evening was all about being in the right place with both James Wilson and Hamish Macrae taking their three fish limit and everybody else having at least some action. James’s three, along with his total from the 2nd night was enough to win the event. Don Mackay was runner-up and Hamish third.

As for the heaviest fish over the three evenings, it was a very tight call with Don Mackay’s fish of 2lb 7ozs on the first night just shading it over Willie Skinner and James Wilson with fish of 2lb 6ozs followed by Richard Crowther at 2lb 5ozs.

The three evening winners were Don Mackay (June) and James Wilson for June & July.

We had no annual club outing this year, for one reason or another. Maybe Loch Brora doesn’t appeal any more as a venue! So two trophies not awarded again, plus the award for the best salmon on the day. Watten was also called off.

The Clarkson outing on L Brora was also cancelled because of lack of support from all the clubs .
