Charley

Crystalcreek Skys the Limit
(Crystalcreek Spirit of Jess x Crystalcreeks Brave Spirit)
13/10/2008 –

I had not planned to keep any of Sky’s litter, I had my hands full with Sky, Quinn and Rio!! But at 4 weeks of age, Charley caught my eye. While feeding them I used to wipe the bowls with my fingers to get the dregs caught in the corners and give it to whoever had finished. At 4 weeks old Charley cottoned on to this and when I had wiped a bowl I would look round and there was little Charley sitting patiently looking up waiting, very smart.

Charley has turned into a beautiful little girl, completely hyper but very loving. She is not happy unless she is curled up on the sofa next to me with her head on my lap. She has this weird habit of hanging on to Sky’s side when they are in the garden, she is completely obsessed, nothing stops her, poor Sky comes in drenched on one side.   She is very guardy when I am in the house, sitting up on the sofa looking out the window and telling off anyone who dares so much as be pulling into the distillery across the road.

I love watching Charley move, she has the most beautiful gait and seems to float over the ground. When she is not hanging on to Sky she loves to play with any of the others, but mainly Zak. When they are out in the field he will start a catch me if you can game, he always slows down so she can catch him.   I started Charley and Zak on Agility in 2011.  It is only a little pet fun club but they picked it up so quickly, by the second week they were happy with all the equipment and a couple of weeks later they were happily running ahead over everything and I was struggling to keep up !!!   At the end of 2011 Charley broke her leg, no idea how it hapened as she was at home at the time, it looked as if there had been a bit of a scrap and she had a small wound on her leg, I treated it but the next day it was very swollen, the vet thought it was just badly infected so she was on antibiotics but a week later it was still swollen so they took her in and she was xrayed and they found a pretty bad break!!!  She was in plaster for about 3 months as it took a long time to start to heal, but thankfully all healed well in the end and she now runs around just as madly.
