 Zak

Crystalcreeks Black Hawk
(Crystalcreek Spirit of Jess x Crystalcreeks Brave Spirit)
13/10/2008 –

Zak was reserved at 2 weeks old, it was a very fleeting visit and I found it difficult to get much of a feeling for the prospective owner, but I thought I would get to know him better on subsequent visits. I sent an email at 4 weeks showing pictures and giving an update to which I got a very brief reply saying he was busy and would get back to me. That was the last I heard till Zak was 9 weeks old and then I just got a one-liner asking how he was doing. If you read my puppy page, you will note that I am not the type of breeder who just sells my pups to anyone who wants one, I expect people to find out about me and my dogs and equally I want to know all about the them – I want to know who I am passing my babies on to before they go, not after and I certainly expect people to show up for more than one fleeting visit to see the pup.  If you are too busy for that you are too busy for my pup. That shows no commitment to me at all.

So – deposit was refunded and although I tried to find a more suitable home, Zak ended up staying with me and I am so very grateful, he is an absolute stunner. Although born all black he has developed tan tints on his legs. He is incredibly agile and I started  him on Agility along with sister Charley in 2011 at a little pet fun club.  He picked it up really quickly, the first week he was scared of the contact equipment, so we focused on it at the end of the class and by the second week he was going over it no problem.  A couple of weeks later I was struggling to keep up with him!!!

He is an absolute sweetheart, a very sensitive boy. He loves to play chase with his sister Charley in the garden and out on the fields. One of his favourite pastimes is to flush up the pheasants in the field, he has no interest in chasing them just the searching and flushing is fun enough, once they have taken off he moves on to find the next one.

He has taken on the role of the man of the house, although his Dad still does most of the guarding.   Sometimes I will be sitting watching tv in the evening and I look over and he is just sitting watching me, he is so stunning.    The trouble he is very camera shy, he is never still and if he does stop for a moment, by the time you have lifted the camera, he is off so getting a really good shot of him is so difficult
