I grew up in southwestern Ontario moving to Scotland where I have made my home. I am a graduate of Nova Scotia College of Art and Design, Halifax, Canada and studied at Fanshawe College in London, Ontario.

I divide my time as an artist between my studio practice and my activities as a cultural worker.  My work is based in drawing and mixed media on paper looking at ideas about our relationship to place and meaningfulness, balancing the use of materials and image to create something that is reflective and relevant. Working with space and light, I have a strong interest in early Renaissance art when artists moved from symbolic perspective found in the religious art of the time to linear perspective that was developed to portray a descriptive realism. I am drawn to the 'change' during this period that for me links to the shifting perspectives of the world we now live in. I have exhibited in Canada and Scotland in solo and group exhibitions including Visual Art Scotland and Paisley Art Institute.  I run art classes for adults and children from my studio and have organised workshops/activities for art groups and adults.

I have a strong commitment to the cultural life within the Renfrewshire area where I live, organising art groups, workshops and participating in local events. I have recently left WMT (Weaving Musical Threads) after 5 years working with many talented and creative people on diverse and exciting projects that have benefited the local area culturally and economically. WMT is an organisation that develops creative projects and collaborations often with strong links to heritage. I have more recently become interested in geopoetics which is taking my work in new directions and which I am co-editor on Stravaig, the on-line journal.
