Prayer Diary July 2012
Sunday 1st
Listening God, thank You that You answer our prayers even before we pray them. Keep us in regular communication with You. Help us, too, to listen for Your voice.
Monday 2nd
We thank You, Living Lord, for the dedicated teachers to whom each of us owes so much. Thank You for the education system in our country. Bless and strengthen teachers in today’s culture when life in the classroom can be very stressful. Give to each one a thoroughly good holiday! They fully deserve it.
Tuesday 3rd
Trust God from the bottom of your heart; don’t try to figure out everything on your own. Prov.3.5, The Message.
What excellent advice! These words have been wisdom to manypeople. Lord, help them to speak to me today!
Wednesday 4th
We give thanks for Jesus Christ our Saviour who taught us how topray and say, ‘Our Father’.
Thursday 5th Church Hall open for coffees and lunch
In this third week of this initiative to share fellowship and to raise much-needed funds for our church, give thanks for the people who have expressed willingness to provide and to serve. Pray that many in our church and community will feel drawn to give their support and that friends and visitors will come along.
Friday 6th
Remember those known to us who suffer from dementia - such a distressing condition. Bless and strengthen those who love them and seek to care for them. Assure them that You love them and understand.
Saturday 7th
Merciful Father, we pray today for all those who are facing worries and concerns which they feel are likely to overwhelm them. Help them to turn to You and to be reassured that You hear all our prayers.
Sunday 8th
Preaching almost every Sunday for weeks on end is a huge and time-consuming commitment! Keep on praying for Lyall, that God’s Holy Spirit will continue to inspire him with God’s message and grant freshness, relevance and acceptance. Pray for encouragement as our own people and visitors come to church each Sunday.
Monday 9th
Thank You, dear Lord, for the pleasure and privilege of Christian friendship and fellowship. Encourage us all to help one another and to love our neighbour as we love ourselves. It is still true that actions speak louder than words: may we consistently show Jesus in our actions.
Tuesday 10th
Creator God, we give You thanks for Your world. Each season brings its own joys and now in summer we look forward to enjoying long and hopefully warmer days. Help us to slow down our pace of life and open our eyes to appreciate the glory and beauty around us.
Wednesday 11th
Let him lead me to the banqueting hall, and let his banner over me be love. Song of Sol.2.4
It is mind-blowing that God loves us like this. And He loves our dear ones who are still careless of their need of Him. God wants the best for them too. Help me to keep on praying, Lord!
Thursday 12th Church Hall open for coffees and lunch
‘Lord, I believe. Help my unbelief!’ These words were spoken to Jesus in His days on earth. They are true for each of us too. Living Lord, strengthen and help us to trust You more and more each day as we bring our deep needs to You..
Friday 13th
Father God, sometimes we find it hard to understand what Your will is for us. Please help us. And, on the occasions when we do understand but are reluctant to obey, work in our hearts and minds to make us willing. You know what is best!
Saturday 14th Pot Luck Supper in our Church Hall
This evening we gather to enjoy fellowship together and to thank Rev Ivan Warwick who has been our Interim Moderator since the beginning of the year and who leaves soon to take up a charge in Paisley. Social evenings in our hall have always been a great success: may this be up with the best!
Sunday 15th Joint Service at Dunnet
Today at noon our linked congregations of Canisbay, Dunnet and Keiss unite for a service at noon in Dunnet Church. Lyall and Ivan Warwick will share in the conduct of the service which is one of farewell to Ivan.

Gracious God, thank You that You’ve given me an invitation!
Tuesday 17th
Bless all parents, Lord. We pray for the homes of our church and community, particularly thinking of any where there are anxieties. Help us all to find strength in You and to respect You as our Heavenly Father.
Wednesday 18th
Bounteous Lord, we thank You for all that we have. Even in this time of austerity we have relatively so much when we compare ourselves with others. Help us to be willing to share when we see a need.
Thursday 19th Church Hall open for coffees and lunch
Merciful Father, be specially near to those whose lives are drawing to a close whether in hospital or being cared for at home. Comfort them and all who love them. Help them to know that You will never leave them.
Friday 20th
We pray today for those who have no homes. Even in the summer months it must be hard to spend long nights out of doors. Merciful Lord, help us who live in comfort to do what we can to help.
Saturday 21st
Loving God, we pray today for each person in our church and community who is ill, either at home or in hospital. Some of them have been unwell for a long time. Be very close to them in their weakness and, if it is Your will, grant them healing and new strength. Thank You for our Health Service and particularly for our own doctors, nurses and carers. Keep them in good health.
Sunday 22nd
Lord Jesus Christ, Head of the Church worldwide, today we remember all who worship in places where there is persecution; where pastors live in fear of arrest; where sharing the Gospel is forbidden. Keep us faithful in praying for these sisters and brothers, and help us never to take the freedom we have for granted.
Monday 23rd
Merciful Father, we pray for Your people who are involved in a Faith Healing Ministry. Thank You for Your Holy Spirit. Give us eyes to see the gifts of the Spirit exercised in our day and help us to display the fruit of the Spirit more clearly in our lives.
Tuesday 24th
There’s an opportune time to do things, a right time for everything on the earth. Eccles.3.1, The Message
Lord, You know what’s happening in my life just at this present time. Help me to keep short accounts with You. You might come back tomorrow!
Wednesday 25th
Thank You, Heavenly Father, for being such a faithful God Who never leaves us. Thank You for answered prayer and, on the occasions when we struggle to wait for Your answers, remind us gently that Your timing is always perfect.
Thursday 26th Church Hall open for coffees and lunch
Over the summer months many of us have periods of holiday when we can take time away from work or from our normal pursuits to relax with friends and family. We pray that these holidays will allow us to return with fresh joy in our hearts to continue to serve You in our church and community.
Friday 27th
Thank You, Heavenly Father, for my friends who pray faithfully for me. Bless them richly and encourage them day by day. If I need it, remind me to share with them how their prayers have been answered!
Saturday 28th
God’s about to pronounce his people well, the holy people he loves so much, so they’ll never again live like fools. Ps.85.8, The Message
All of us have some foolishness in our lives. Thank You, Lord, that You will show us what it is and remove it.
Sunday 29th
Living Lord, we thank You for the encouragement we receive from the visitors who happily attend our services during the holiday season. Thank You for fellowship shared and for their prayers for us when they return to their home churches. Bless richly these brothers and sisters in the huge Christian family.
Monday 30th
Forgive us, Merciful Father, for the times when we have spoken out when we should have remained silent, and also for the times when we have remained silent but should have spoken. May we be lights shining in this dark world and ambassadors for Christ in everything we do.
Tuesday 31st
Faith is truly believing in God even though we cannot see Him. Gracious God, increase our faith and give us greater confidence in You so that we expect greater things from You.
