Transit of Mercury Update

The weather forecast looks very good for viewing the transit of Mercury from Caithness tomorrow - 9th May. CAG members will be gathered at Castlehill Heritage Centre, Castletown from noon to observe the event. Members of the public are welcome to drop by and witness this rare event with us.

Remember that if observing the event yourselves, it is extremely important to do so safely using the correct equipment / setup. The Sun can permanently damage eyes and expensive camera equipment!

Details on the transit can be found via numerous weblinks including at BBC Sky at Night and Astronomy Now magazines, the Open University and via this printable guide from the Society for Popular Astronomy.
