GREEN WASTE

It has been brought to our attention that in certain areas residents are still presenting their garden waste for collection even though the collections ceased at the end of October. Unfortunately we will not be able to make garden waste collections as this service has now ended for the winter and is due to resume in March 2012, however  for the next two weeks if you receive calls from residents regarding garden waste can you advise them to call the Environment Contact Centre  and organise a greenwaste "junk job". As an alternative residents can also take the material to the Household Waste Recycling Centre at Haverton Hill or they can also think about Home Composting as the Council supports a national campaign to promote Home Composting and have signed up to a scheme where residents can purchase Home Composting bins at a reduced rate.  If residents would like to purchase a compost bin they can visit www.middlesbrough.getcomposting.com or telephone 0844 571 4444.
