G&L ASAT Tribute ASAT Headstock. No-one knows what it stands for, but the theory is its After Stratocaster After Telecaster. Well its certainly a Super-Tele. Given the choice between this and a Mexican strat, go for the ASAT. If up against the USA model, well its still a hard choice.
Of course the Tribute model is made in Indonesia. If you want the USA made ASAT, its big $$$$. Even then this model is really really nice.
Its easy to be snobby about far east guitars but quality is spot on and frankly they cost less than a third of the lead USA model but are nearly as good. |

G&L ASAT body Swamp Ash body, high quality parts. Great sound.
Founded by Leo Fender in 1980, G&L USA instruments continue to be made in the historic G&L facility on Fender Avenue in Fullerton, California, the Birthplace of Bolt-on.
George Fullerton was deeply involved in the development of the Fender Street, and later joined Leo to set up G&L (George and Leo). He owned patents on imported body design and was therefore able to carry that forward to the ASAT. |
