Children's Page 3This page is devoted to The Prize These magazines are from long ago before even your grand parents were born. How many games played here do you still play??? Grownups - The Prize was a magazine produced monthly for boys and girls with stories that were invariably moralistic and quizzes were scriptural. Printed in Holland and published for the proprietors by Wells Gardner, Darton & Co., the front was always a colour plate. When bound and produced as an annual it had a 13th print placed at the front. My opinion is the printing is top class. The art content for the Victorian editions are typically sentimental (chocolate box) type with children and dogs & cats. By the beginning of the 1st World War chromolithography had been dropped and the quality of the art work was variable. | ||||||||||||||||||||||
