Introduction

The St. Christopher Young People’s Trust was established on 1st November 2007.

The Trust aims to assist access to opportunities within the community for young people with learning disabilities, specifically ASD, Asperger's Syndrome and ADHD.  Additionally the Trust will work to gain resources and support from the community to help a range of providers understand and meet the needs of these young people.

We hope to achieve this by bringing together community groups and professionals who have a shared responsibility for helping these children and young adults.  The shared aim for these groups will be the development of positive attitudes and skills in order to give the broadest range of life opportunities to children and young adults.

We will seek to create resources for these children and young adults within current community provision.  We will also aim to help identify and facilitate the development of additional provision.

The Trust will support The St. Christopher School in helping these young people to identify and access appropriate destinations at 11, 14, 16 and 19 as they move to the next stages in their future.

The Trust, through its membership, will bring together knowledge and experience of the issues facing these children and young people whose lives are affected.
