Skye & Lochalsh Winter Race Series 2011-2012

Glenbrittle Trail Race – Results

14 runners tackled this year’s 10 mile Glenbrittle Trail Race.  The race started in torrential rain but, that soon cleared and the majority of the race was run in good conditions.  Young Niall Till led for most of the race only to be passed by race winner James Stephenson and Josephine MacDonald in the closing stages

The stand out performance of the day was from 16 year old Josephine MacDonald who finished the tough course to finish second overall, in 1:17:58.  Niall Till held on to third place ahead of Neil Turner in fourth and Dave Till in fifth.  Sophie MacDonald was second lady home in sixth overall, followed by Sarah Stephenson who as the first female club member home took maximum points in the lady’s championship.

In the the SLRC Winter Series Championship, Wilma MacRuary, did enough, by finishing second female club member home, to secure the Ladies Championship with one race to go.  The Mens Championship is still not decided as Niall Till has closed to within 8 points of Phil Dewar.

The current standings are as follows: Phil Dewar (28 points); Niall Till (20 points); Neil Turner and Lee Mather (14 points).  In the ladies championship, the standings are: Wilma MacRuary (36 points); Sarah Stephenson (28) and Janette Tasker (26).

The next race in the series will be the Sconser 10k on March 17th.
