A lovely crisp and sunny day brought out a strong field of runners for the first race in the Skye & Lochalsh Running Club Winter Race Series at Kinloch Forest in Sleat. The 4¼ mile hilly course was tackled by 23 runners, all making very good time. 

 

First back was Scott Kennedy in 28 minutes and 12 seconds, just outside the course record which he set in 2008. Second male home was Alex Turner in 33.16 and 3^rd was Robert MacAskill in 33.49. First lady home was Fiona MacDonald in 39 minutes and 35 seconds, just 4 seconds slower than her previous best for the route. Second female was Janette Tasker (40.06) and 3^rd was Wendy Donnelly (41.11).

 

Points are awarded to running club members for the championship which will be run over five races. Current standings are: Scott Kennedy (10); Alex Turner (8); Neil Roberts (6); Niall Tasker (4); and Charles MacLennan and Richard McGuire sharing the final two points between them. In the ladies championship the standings are: Fiona MacDonald (10); Janette Tasker (8) and Wendy Donnelly (6).

 

The next race in the series takes place at Braes on 4^th December.
