Winter Series - Race 3 19 January 2009 Yet again, the Isle of Skye 10k and Glenmore Fun Run were completed during a lull in the wintry showers which passed over Portree on Saturday. A small number of junior competitors took to the road for the “fun run” over a 2-mile course on the Struan road. This year the race was won by Danielle Gordon in an excellent time of 15 minutes and 57 seconds. She was followed by sister Ruth in 16 minutes and 19 seconds. The third competitor, and first boy home, was Tay McCluskie in a time of 17 minutes and 33 seconds. This year the junior races will be run on a similar basis to the adult competition, in that points will be awarded over a series and the overall winner will be decided by the number of points gained over all five races. A total of 27 competitors completed the Isle of Skye 10k course with a strong headwind to contend with on the run out to the start of the Glenmore Hill. Scott Kennedy, taking part for the first time, won in a time of 40 minutes and 11 seconds, followed by Iain Allan in 41.09 and Phil Dewar in 43 minutes and 50 seconds. The first female home was Wilma MacRuary in 51 minutes and 58 seconds. Second lady back to the Camanachd Clubhouse was Fiona MacDonald (55.01) and third was Margaret Deas (60.18). In the championship, Scott Kennedy and Wilma MacRuary have now made it three wins in three races and look to be difficult to beat with just two more runs to go. The next race in the adult winter race series will be the Glen Brittle Forest 10 mile trail run which takes place on Saturday 14th February. Fun Run Results: 1 Danielle Gordon 15.57 10
