Our Activities

KS Volunteers look after several green spaces throughout the village including the Gateway Community Garden, the Border in Steeple Street, the Garden at the Cross (Rose Garden), the Traffic Lights, Well Road, and the Millennium Garden in Ewing Street. A new Heritage Garden is being developed in Ewing Street.

Containers across the village are filled with flowers and watered in dry spells including at the Barrels on the Cross, the memorial at Station Road, and the Mary Barbour cairn. Benches around the village are regularly painted with KS funds.

An information board has been placed at the Mary Barbour Cairn in New Street and more will be added around the village at places of interest to create a heritage trail around the village.

KS undertake a community litter pick twice a year and have several volunteers who look after certain areas of the village all year round. KS has also undertaken promotional activities to encourage responsible dog ownership.

As part of the Big Climate Change Fightback campaign, KS made an application to the Woodland Trust for free trees of which 345 were planted at Callochant Farm in December2022. There has been ongoing maintenance of the planted trees. Other trees have been planted in the village included at the Cross and Ewing Street, the latter in partnership with Kilbarchan Church eco Group and the Kilbarchan Civic Society.
Members of KS regularly give talks or support about village heritage and horticulture for organisations such as St Vincent’s Hospice and Corseford College.
