Having been slightly worried that it would be terrible weather we were delighted to be greeted by a pretty perfect day for a dog show.
It was sunny but not too hot and we had lots of lovely people attend the show. It was the first time we have organised the dog show part ourselves so we stuck to the novelty classes and it seemed to work out well. We are very grateful to Ian Swanson for agreeing to judge the show and to his steward Morven Polson. What a great job they did. Also very grateful to Willie Mackay for all his organisation and calling out the classes, winners and general information, that is quite a job and we don't know what we would do without him. We are also very grateful to D.S.MacGregor and Partners, Veterinary Surgery for sponsoring the rosettes for us, and what lovely rosettes they were beautifully made by Gwen's Rosettes.
We have to admit to a bit of pride in the fact that it was the fabulous Bryn, visiting on a day trip from his home in Orkney, who won the Rose O'Brien memorial rosebowl for Best Sighthound and overall Best In Show. Bryn is an ex-KWK9 dog and just one of the best advertisements for lurchers there could be.
We had a very successful day making a profit of £1600 which will all be spent on caring for the wonderful dogs who come our way to find their forever homes. We are very grateful to all the individuals and local companies who give so generously to us, donating lovely raffle prizes and baking. There are so many of you we are unable to mention you all here but please know that we really do appreciate your support. We are also endebted to all the wonderful people who turn out time and again to help us at these events: Abby, Jenny and Heather; Pierre and Yvonne, Caz and all her family; Adele, Ali and Jake; Ashley; Paul and Fay; Max; Kevin; Lysette; Graeme; Louise and Willie; Anne's Dad; and last but not least the trustees Anne, Jill, Barry and Sally. If I have forgotten anyone here please don't feel you are not appreciated, just put it down to one of many senior moments and give us a reminder, we will be delighted to add you in.
