Social
The club enjoys many social activities with other local clubs. Throughout the season Garstang Ladies hosts an Inter-Club Night, a Charter Dinner and our end of the year Tall Tales event.
The Inter-Club Night starts with a buffet supper and is followed by speakers from all clubs putting their own interpretation on the evening's theme. Recent themes have included 'James Bond', 'The Olympics', and a very popular theme was the '1920s'. Some vintage frocks were given an airing!
The Charter Dinner celebrates the awarding of the club Charter over thirty years ago and is a more formal occassion.
There is an invited after dinner speaker, recent speeches have included 'The Role of a Town Crier', 'The Travails of a Driving Examiner', and 'Running a Community Shop'. All entertaining and interesting.
The guest speaker for the 2016 Charter Dinner was the crime and thriller writer Zoe Sharp. Talks of death and destruction were well received.
Tall Tales usually turns into an hilarious event with club members and guests telling tales that might or might not be true. We've had 'Ladies Locked in Lavatories', 'Russian Spies', 'Ghosts' 'War Heros' and 'Driving Monks', to name but a few. A buffet supper starts the evening and concludes with the teller of the tallest tale being awarded the trophy.
You will notice a couple of dents in the cup - thereby hangs another tale!
