Charles was born on March 1994 the youngest son of Peter Clay and Penny née Hutson.

He was educated at King Edward V1 School, Southampton. He is a keen rugby player and from the age of eight played as full back for the Trojans team in Southampton. In 2011 they reached the top eight nationwide.

In 2013 he will start a three year BSc Degree at Warwick Univesity in Engineering with Management.
