Thomas Clay was born on 22 May 1989, the second son of Peter Clay (see page 108) and Penny née Hutson.
He was baptised at North Cheriton church and was educated at King Edward V1 School, Southampton.
In 2008 Tommy started an Bsc degree in Zoology at Bristol University which he passed with a 2:1 in 2011. He then did a two months spell on Turtle conservation in Northern Greece. In 2011 he started an Msc in Consetrvation and Ecology at Exeter University (Cornwall Campus). His course included a period in Kenya studying wildlife conservation and four months in Peru working on a project on Turtle and Dolphin consercvation. He passed with Honours and the highest mark of the year. He worked for a short time for Ordnance Survey learning an then teaching mapping software.
In January 2013 Tommy started a PHd at the University of Cambridge in conjuction with British Antarctic Survey on the study of Albatross. This will finish in 2016.
