Frederic Harden ("Hardie") Clay
Hardie was born on 29 October 1875, the elder son of John Harden Clay and Alice Spencer nee Bagnold.
He was educated at Charterhouse before following his father to Trinity College, Cambridge. He was adm pens 26 June 1895; matriculated Michaelmas 1895; obtained his B.A. in 1898 and went on to get LL.B. in 1908.
Hardie became a Solicitor in 1908 with Guscotte, Wadham & Co.
During the First War, he served as Lieutenant in the North Somerset Yeomanry and the Royal Army Service Corps.
He lived at Ambleside, Westmoreland.
Hardie died on 15 October 1963 at the age of 87. He never married.
