Rifleman Hugh McIntyre of Dalry Ayrshire.
A former miner of Dalry in the Garnock valley Ayrshire who transferred from 9th Cameronians to the 2nd or Jock Commando of Airborne troops.
Early 1942 the Commando unit attack the German radar at Bruneval on the French coast. In command is Major John Frost a former Cameronian and later Ltd Colonel of Arnhem fame.
The raid being a success with radar equipment being captured to be studied by the boffins.
Hugh McIntyre was killed in an exchange of gunfire and buried by the French local population. He is remembered in both France and Dalry.
