Robert Surtees 1875 - 1950
Robert - known in the family as Robby or Robbie - was born in February 1875, theonly sone of his father Robert, and the only child of his mother, Catherine Aurora nee Page, whose younger brother was named Surtees, perhaps he was Robby's Godfather.
Alas ! Catherine died soon after the birth. After her death, her husband employed a nurse Ellen Blakeman (born Q2 1865), known to the family as "Blakey", to look after the baby. She was very devout, and this had such an influence on the boy that he entered the Church and took Holy Orders. He never married.
Robby wrote to his sister Violet on 10th March 1950, the day before he died; he closed his letter :-
"So don't worry about me."
