Great Days Out........What you can see, do, and enjoy in Wester Ross - while staying in Gairloch!

 Stay relatively local, and go out to Ruareidh Lighthouse OR Visit Inverewe gardens. Either way, you'll not be more than a short drive back to the Village, and yet can easily spend between a half and a whole day out enjoying the freedom and space of Wester Ross.

Stay completely local  - have a walk around historical Flowerdale Woods, and have a look at the lovely Flowerdale House, home of the Mackenzie's of gairloch for 500 years. Then go out on a boat!

OR

Venture slightly further out, and have a go at the Beinn Eighe "Mountain Trail"...contrary to the description, this is NOT actually on the mountain itself, but on a self guided trail that takes an average of 3.5 hours to walk round. Then, spend a little time discovering the villages of Kinlochewe, Torridon, Diabaig, or Shieldaig before heading back home.

To the North lies some riverside walks along the River Ewe, the ruined village of Slaggan, near Laide, and Laide Wood itself  - now owned and being restored / replanted under community ownership. Finally, you arrive at Gruinard beach and another river walk at Inverianvie.

Take a whole day away touring or walking (bur come back here in the evening and enjoy the local hospitality!)

Try Applecross, or go up to Knockan - have a look around Inverness!
