Poland Again

Once again I find myself in Poland for a visit to the inlaws. This time its for two weeks and includes a wedding which are a much bigger event over here than at home (and better by a mile).

I have however brought my Kona Kula with me and had a chance to use it. As said before the land here is very flat, very forested, very sandy and has lots of lakes. Howvever, don't be fooled. The riding is hard going although I'm yet to find any real decent singletrack. There is one 1 km stretch near where we are based which is quite fun but besides that its mainly fire tracks.

There is however plenty of interest with some beautiful villages and lots of military history (this part of Poland used to be German and has loads of Bunkers build by them on what was the old eastern front) including bunkers and trenches galore.

Well, so far this trip I have manged 4 rides, the 1st with my wife on her new Polish bike of 6 miles or so. After that I went of on my own to round that up to a total of 19. A big and very tiring 35 miler followed a few days later which was from home to the tourist town of Lagow and included some beautiful lake side riding and a visit to the highest point of Lubuskie region (a massive 225m). Then once again tonight, a blast from home in search of another bunker and including my favorite Polish singletrack, another 14 miles covered and a couple more new tracks explored.
