A bit of Snow

Well all this cold weather has really made the trails excellent for riding; and with the snow fall (ok, so hardly much but still better than nowt) on Monday morning we just had to get a snow ride in.  So on Monday evening at 7 it was 4 intrepid bikers who left the comfort of the Plough for a couple of hours fun on Leith Hill.

Once again I rememberd to bring the camera to try and capture some of the action, but alas,  my quality of photos was pretty poor.

We gingerly headed off in the direction of 'Summer Lightning' which is always a good trail to start on but already George was having problems with the cleats on his shoes. It was going to turn into one of those rides that never really got flowing but was still good fun.

We decided we'd just stay on Leith Hill and have a play around on all the singletrack. Slowly we made our way up to Coldharbour Cricket pitch where you can see Simon in the photo above. The plan was then to head up to the tower then spent a hour or so on all the singletrack on the other side of it such as 'Chocolate Jesus', 'Caspers' and 'Windy Willow'. Sadly before this became possible and just as we got to within a few yards of the tower there was a real nasty noise from Simons bike. We all stoped and eventually Mike spotted the problem.

Yep, his Hope hub had cracked clean in two as you can see from the white line in this image. A fatel mechanical indeed so our ride was cut short and we headed back down to the Plough for another beer. Still, we clocked up about 7 miles which normally we wouldn't have and the conditions although bitterly cold we're just fantastic under tyre which made it all worth while.
