.. knitting my first tie in the light coloured rug wool from the mature Herdwick ladies (so far have only used light in the Aran style wool from Crookabeck, Patterdale).  This is brilliant!  Soft and light yet with the same feisty characteristics of the darker colours.  It's like knitting with the hair of a grandmother: sweet and gentle, but with a huge background character!
