Canoe Creek Golf Course, Salmon Arm

Canoe Creek Golf Course in Salmon Arm is one of 3 courses in this town and is only 2 years old.  $80 dollars is the usual price but after 3pm it is half price.

They are building a club house at the moment and currently run out of a trailer do not let that put you off it is by far and away the best course I have played on in Canada and I would go as far to say one of the best courses I have played on anywhere. 

I played of the black or pga tees.  Every tee shot had danger at the 300yd mark to catch out the bigger hitter, lots of dog legs, the par 5s were long with small greens an eagle put on any of them required a well placed drive and a very accurate long to mid iron, first course I have played in Canada where I didn't have at least one eagle put and no birdies on any of the par 5s. 

The course was designed very well, the trouble trees are all fully grown and the fairways have some nice undulations, hit the wrong side of the fairway and you could find yourself an awkward stance or in the thick semi.   If you do hit the fairway they are lovely to hit off, no holes or bare patches. 

The only fault I have with the greens are because they are nice and soft there are a lot of unrepaired or poorly repaired pitch marks, hitting a full 8 iron and up very easy to get a lot of spin on the ball and get it to come back 5 or 6 feet.  Nice and true to putt on and quite fast with lots of borrows bot many straight putts to be had.  The first 9 holes I dropped 6 shots but managed to do the 2nd 9 in 1 over. 

I will be doing my best to come back and play here again, definately a course for a keen golfer or somebody looking for a golf holiday, put Canoe Creek on your must play list.
