Chowan Golf & Country Club is an 18 hole golf course located in Edenton South Carolina where I played on Saturday the 2nd August 2008.  $13 for 18 holes after 2pm, very cheap and I did think to myself that the course would justify the small fee.  I teed off the back tees in the North Carolina heat, it was 5pm and still in the high 80s, birdied the first ,good start, but would it last?

I am walking, and the sweat was running off me already.  First impressions were surprising, tees were good fairway nice and the green soft allowing me to play the ball at the hole, get ting some spin and control. 

The first 9 holes were good not very difficult but thought was needed at the tees. Fairways quite tight in places, driver not always the club to play, plenty of water and trees to to capture a wayward shot.  The greens were quite slow but very true, the putts were going in and I was one over par at the turn.  I had some fluids with me so I didnt bother with the clubhouse and carried on straight to the 10th.  A difficult drive a dog leg left with trees up the left hand side and water on the right but not a long hole driver out, the line was tight but if it flew the way I envisioned it would, leave a small wedge to the green give me a chance to go to level par, caught a branch, ball landed middle of the fairway 180 yds from green walked off with a bogey, dam if only.........

The light faded quick and I found myself on the 18th par 5 dog leg right and not beeing able to see very well 1 iron middle of the fairway the 10th fairway!  I couldnt see, took an educated guess where the green would be, 5 wood over the trees pin high on the fringe of the green fluffed my chip, missed my put and walked off the 18th 4 over par. 

Overall, the course was very good, certainly not a difficult course to play on but some testing holes and good course management needed. Well worth the green fees.
