What is a Young Carer

A young carer is a child that looks after someone in their family who has an illness, a disability, or is affected by mental health or substance misuse.

A Young Carer is someone aged 8-18 who looks after a relative who has a :

Disability

illness

mental health condition

Drug or Alcohol problem.

The Majority of Young Carers look after one of their parents or care for a brother or sister. They do jobs in and around the home, such as cooking, cleaning, or helping someone get dressed and move around.

They may even emotionally support a family member.

A young carer could even miss out on School or a social life due to the support they are giving a family member.

We are here to support the Young Carer, by giving them the time to focus on them so they can have Fun and be CHILDREN again.

Please get in touch if you are or know anyone that could be or is a Young Carer.
