Five pairs competed in the club doubles recently, which was played as a round robin.  With Barbara out of action (and gallivanting at her niece’s graduation) Kon Tomczyk paired up with Pat Daviss for the day, beating Jackie & Ray in the first round, and ending up on 2 wins.  Jackie gained more confidence in her playing as the day went on, and some good pointing saw them take a game off Mike North & Wally.  Wally was torn between covering the bar and keeping Mike out of trouble: this proved to be too much of a stretch and Mike & Wally didn’t get a win. Rather neatly, the final round saw two unbeaten pairs play one another: Jan & Shun Price played Tansy & Paul Mayfield, with the Mayfield running out as winners.

In the meantime, a shooting competition was underway – 2 shots at each of 6,7,8 and 9 metres at a single boule.  Tansy set the standard in the first round scoring 19 out of a possible 40 and leaving the others to try and beat her.  This proved to be quite a draw with some good scores in the high teens,  however Tansy was not to be outdone and ended up coming 1st and 2nd with 24 and 19, with Kon and Paul M in joint 3rd place on 18.
