Uig sands

Great pictures of the sands can be found here and here. This is where the world famous Lewis chessmen were found hidden in a box beneath a sand-dune in 1831 by a shepherd.
The beach provides a timeless inspiration to many artists and photographers and is a major visitor attraction, with incredible white sands, tropical shells borne by the warm North Atlantic drift current, and deep blue crystal clear waters.
