Code of Conduct for All Club Members and Guests
All Members (social and playing) and Guests of Witheridge Cricket Club will:
Respect the rights, dignity and worth of every person within the context of Cricket
Treat everyone equally and not discriminate on the grounds of age, gender, disability, race, ethnic origin, nationality, colour, parental or martial status, religious belief, class or social background, sexual preference or political belief
Not condone, or allow to go unchallenged, any form of discrimination if witnessed
Display high standards of behaviour
Promote the positive aspects of Cricket e.g. fair play
Encourage all participants to learn the Laws and rules and play within them, respecting the decisions of match officials
Actively discourage unfair play, rule violations and arguing with match officials
Recognise good performance not just match results
Place the well-being and safety of Young People above the development of performance
Ensure that activities are appropriate for the age, maturity, experience and ability of the individual
Respect Young People's opinions when making decisions about their participation in Cricket
Not smoke, drink or use banned substances whilst actively working with Young People in the Club
Not provide Young People with alcohol when they are under the care of the Club
Follow ECB guidelines set out in the 'Safe Hands – Cricket's Policy for Safeguarding Children' and any other relevant guidelines issued
Report any concerns in relation to a Young Person, following reporting procedures laid down by the ECB
To accept and adhere to the Witheridge C.C.'s Anti Bullying Policy.
Members and Guests include all members and officers of the Witheridge Cricket Club and all guests of these members and officers, as well as all individuals who watch / attend / participate / officiate in matches hosted by the club in whatever capacity.
CODE OF CONDUCT
for Coaches / Managers / Appointed Volunteers
Witheridge Cricket Club is committed to ensuring the safety of children within the club during organised cricket and practise sessions. All our Club Officers and Appointed Volunteers will adopt the following principles:
Respect and champion the rights of every individual to participate in cricket
Develop a relationship with players and members based on openness, honesty, mutual trust and respect
Demonstrate proper personal behaviour and conduct at all times
Ensure that physical contact is appropriate and necessary and is carried out within recommended guidelines with the Young Player's full consent and approval
Not engage in any form of sexually related contact with a Young Player. This is strictly forbidden as is sexual innuendo, flirting or in appropriate gestures and terms
To maximise benefits and minimise the risks to cricketers, coaches must attain a high level of competencies through qualifications and a commitment to on-going training that ensures safe and correct practise
Consider the well-being and safety of participants before the development of performance
Make sure all activities are appropriate to the age, ability and experience of those taking part
Promote the positive aspects of the sport (e.g. fair play)
Display consistently high standards of behaviour and appearance
Follow all guidelines laid down by the national governing body and the club
Hold the appropriate, valid qualifications and insurance cover
Attend appropriate training to keep up to date with their role and especially with respect to the Safeguarding of Young People.
Never exert undue influence over performers to obtain personal benefit or reward
Never condone rule violations, rough play or the use of prohibitive substances

COLTS (Junior Members)
Witheridge Cricket Club is fully committed to safeguarding and promoting the wellbeing of all its members. The club believes that it is important that members, coaches, administrators and parents associated with the club should, at all times, show respect and understanding for the safety and welfare of others. Therefore, members are encouraged to be open at all times and to share any concerns or complaints that they may have about any aspect of the club with the Clubs Senior Officers.
Play within the laws and spirit of cricket
Respect all officials and their decisions
Commit to developing skill
Listen to and respect Team Manager and Captain, respect and encourage team mates
Respect opponents and make them welcome to Witheridge C.C.
Keep to agreed timings for training and competitions or inform their coach or team manager if they are going to be late
Wear suitable kit (helmet, box [for boys] and gloves for batting and wicket keeping when playing with a hard ball) for training and match sessions, as agreed with the coach/team manager. (The club has a limited number of these items, but individuals are asked to bring their own box.)
White cricket shirt and trousers should be worn for matches if possible
Pay any fees for training or matches promptly
No smoking on club premises or whilst representing the club at matches/competitions
No consumption of alcohol or drugs of any kind on the club premises or whilst representing the club

for Parents/Guardians
Encourage your child to learn the rules and play within them
Discourage unfair play and arguing with officials
Help your child to recognise good performance, not just results
Never force your child to take part in sport
Set a good example by recognising fair play and applauding the good performances of all
Never punish or belittle a child for losing or making mistakes
Publicly accept officials' judgements
Support your child's involvement and help them to enjoy their sport
Use correct and proper language at all times
Do not forget, children are involved in organised sport for their enjoyment and not yours
