A new page has been added index.asp?pageid=361087 which shows all the name variations identified in all the currently available UK censuses.  These data are presented as both a table and a "Top Ten".  This makes it clear that Wallator was the most common spelling in official records.  However, the names "Woliter" and "Wolleter" have become more common in the later censuses.  The data also supports the view that whilst the largest number of people with this family name were recorded in Shropshire, over time the number elsewhere has increased, with Warwickshire, Staffordshire and Yorkshire becoming the centres for the family name in the UK - but typically with the spellings "Woliter", "Wolleter" or "Wolletor".
