Who can blame Fiona Carnarvon for battering out a book on Lady Almina  ....." But it's harder to ignore her glossing over all the embarrassing sexy details about Almina Carnarvon..... Though she does describe how Almina was the illegitimate daughter of Alfred de Rothschild, she doesn't go into her reputation for promiscuity as chronicled by William Cross in his book, The Life and Secrets of Almina Carnarvon. Best leave those family skeletons in the cup- board, eh?

The Guardian says of  " The Life and Secrets of Almina Carnarvon" :

The author of " Lady Almina...." can readily be excused for wishing to exploit the link to Downton Abbey. It's less easy to exonerate her decision to ignore William Cross's startling account (in The Life and Secrets of Almina Carnarvon) of a promiscuous and ambitious – yet admirable – woman whose calamitous fall makes for more compelling reading
