SWINDON BUS FARES
Bus fares in Swindon are issued using a zonal system. The main zones are as follows:
- Swindon Urban area split into the Inner & Outer Zone
- Swindon Plus area which includes Highworth, Chiseldon and Royal Wootton Bassett as well as Latton, Cricklade, Purton and Lydiard Fields
- Network or MegaRider Zone which includes all areas served by the main operators of Thamesdown & Stagecoach
The fares in the Plus and Network/MegaRider zones are different to the fares in the Inner and Outer Zones of the Urban Area and the fares shown in Single Fares are for the Inner & Outer Urban Zones only. Other Operators may charge a flat fare within Swindon which is normally the same as the flat fare charged by Thamesdown to travel across 2 or more zones.

There will be through travel arrangements for service 81 passengers from GWH to Thorney Park & Wroughton to travel at the Outer Zone 1 or 2 Zone Fare through the plus zone at Chiseldon.
SINGLE FARES
Only Single tickets are issued within the Urban Inner & Outer Zones, if you are taking more than one bus or taking a return journey it may be cheaper to buy a DayRider ticket.

These are 6 DayRider or DayRider Plus tickets issued on a Thamesdown Smart Card, they are valid on both operators but can only be purchased from a Thamesdown Bus or Travel Shop - to use the ticket on Stagecoach you must first validate the smart card on a Thamesdown bus and show the smart card and validation ticket to the driver of the Stagecoach bus.

SmartFare

The Amounts that can be added are £5, £10, £15, £20 to a maximum of £50 stored on the card.

valid on all Stagecoach West Bus Services and on Stagecoach Oxford services within the Oxford City Centre Smart Zone, tickets also valid on Stagecoach South Wales and on Stagecoach South operated journeys on the Activ8 between Andover & Tidworth. Not Valid on the X5 Oxford to Cambridge (Stagecoach East Explorer required), Salisbury Reds (Wiltshire Day Rover or Salisbury Reds Explorer required) or MegaBus or Falcon services. Ticket also allows travel on Thamesdown Services 70A & 72A.

This ticket is issued and valid on services of all operators in Swindon & Wiltshire, it is also valid on the 51, 51A, 51X & 77 to Cirencester, the 66 to Oxford, the 47 to Lambourne and is also valid on buses to Southampton & Bath.

ENCTS - English National Concessionary Scheme
These passes are valid on all services as follows:
- 0930-2300 Monday To Friday
- All Day Saturday, Sunday & Public Holidays
Thamesdown will issue a Young Persons fare to holders of ENCTS before 0930 and after 2300 on Mondays to Fridays.
Dog Fares
Thamesdown and Stagecoach issue a flat fare single for dogs on their services as follows
- 50p per Journey on Thamesdown
- 70p per Journey on Stagecoach
There are no other ticket options available.

Other animals are carried free of charge at the drivers discretion and in a sutible container or carry case.
SMART CARDS
There are four types of Smart Card in use of Swindon which are all ITSO compliant they are as follows:
- Thamesdown Travel Card Smart Card - Adult - Purple in Colour with users name on the card
- Thamesdown Travel Card Smart Card - Young Person - Orange in Colour with users name, photograph and expiry date on card
- Stagecoach Smart Smart Card - Red, blue, orange and white - no other details on card to identify user
- Swindon Borough Council Issued ENCTS Smart Cards with Orange for disabled users and Blue for Senior Citizen users (stripe on side) as well as name, photo and expiry date - these are similar to those issued throught England
ALL OF THE ABOVE CAN BE USED AND VALIDATED ON ANY BUS IN SWINDON SUBJECT TO THEIR OWN CONDITIONS OF VALIDITY
There is older Smart Cards in use from Thamesdown they are as follows:
- Network Card - blue, with a picture of a bus on the back and with users name and photo on
- Smart Fare card - purple with a picture of a bus on the back and users photo and name on - changed to no photo before being swapped with the ITSO version
- Young Persons Smart Fare - as the smart fare but in Orange
The older cards can still be used, but a ticket from a Thamesdown bus is needed to travel on Stagecoach bus - tickets issued on each journey.
