About Susan Longmuir, Architect

I was raised in Buckie and have been based in Moray for most of my architectural career, which now totals over 25 years post-qualification.

I studied architecture in Aberdeen and, as part of my training, was employed by local practices in Forres, Banff, Elgin and Huntly. To qualify as an Architect takes a minimum of seven years of training - no other building professional is trained in design and construction to such a level of expertise.

In 2006, I started my own practice - Susan Longmuir Architect while continuing to work part time for other architectural and surveying firms and have now relaunched this practice and will focus solely on this work.

As an architect, I pride myself on providing a service that extends well beyond producing a set of drawings - helping clients to realise their dreams and aspirations and guiding them through the design and construction process.

With a belief in undertaking a thorough site analysis and designing specifically to the site for both extensions and new build, I am able to take advantage of natural resources and tailor the design to enhance the surroundings as well as meet the client's needs.

“We shape our buildings; thereafter they shape us.”   Winston Churchill
