The Strathpuffer 2009,  17/18th January

The old signup page is here and the results are here

It seemed like we had 5 seasons in 1 day this year. For those that want a memento of the weekend here is a superb slideshow from Jon Brooke of rightplacerighttime.co.uk. Many of you will have seen Jon out on the course in all weathers and at all times of the day and night. He got some great shots. These are searchable by rider number where visible, and available to buy online.

Things seemed to go very smoothly this year. You all got parked up on site before the start and under your own steam. No need for tractors! The course seemed to hold up well, although we made sure there would be some gloopy mud. It wouldn't be the Puffer without it. It was good to have a marquee for the whole weekend and nobody's tent blew down.

The Puffer only works because of the support we get from many, many people:

The marshals!!!!! They were brilliant (again). We can't thank them enough for being out there no matter what the weather and always being enthusiastic.

Our sponsors who provided a range of very desirable prizes

2Pure, Embers Merino, RideSierraNevada, Bionicon, Square Wheels.

Show your appreciation by having a look at their websites. They might be offering something to help you and your bike recover from the Puffer!

The Red Poppy, who kept us all well fed for the whole weekend.

2Pure who made sure you could see with fully charged lights

The communities of Contin, Strathpeffer and the Achilty and Ben Wyvis hotels who helped out in many ways and gave a warm welcome to several hundred riders

Martin from Sportident - the timing/results man. He was always on hand to sort out any glitches and then helped us clear up on Sunday.

The Forestry Commission for letting us use Achilty Forest again. I'm sure you'll agree that it's a cosy site.

Finally, congratulations and thanks to you all for making the Puffer 2009 so enjoyable. Even in the snow storm people were still smiling.
