It is with great sadness that we have to announce the passing of our beautiful much beloved German Shepherd Tye (Tybo) last month.
Tye had been battling ill health for a number of months maybe even 1½ years & had been doing incredibly well to the point point that he had put on almost enough weight for surgery to help him. Rather than the sad time we'd rather remember the happier times we had with him.
As a lot of close friends of mine will know, Tye had trained himself to be an assistance dog to me, he knew before me when my legs were going to go numb due to my spinal condition, I have a rare form of epilepsy & due to this, if he sensed one coming on when awake he would usually tell me I should lay down, on the bed if possible due to it having a special sensor which would alert a care company & if I didn't respond to them he'd bark, which is when they knew that emergency help was needed, he also did this if they came on during the night. I've also been told that Tye would either lick me to try & wake me & failing that he would sit upon my legs as if to try & stop them shaking, most local ambulance staff knew him by name.
Before I moved into a bungalow, if I fell down the stairs (which was at least a weekly occurance for me) he also used bark in a different tone, to let a family member who lived opposite know that I needed help to get up.
Tybo was also a cheeky chappy, he got a friend of ours one night to cook him x10 sausages (he absolutely loved them!) Just so she could give him x3 of his medications. Even when I had a sausage sandwich I always had to save him & his little sister Snowy (my westie) some of my sandwich. I'll always remember one day, having a ham & cheese sandwich & there was a knock at the front door & putting my lunch down knowing he usually never touches it, I walked back in less than x2 minutes later to see my lunch on the table had disappeared...knowing only one of the dogs were tall enough to reach it but he always had an expression which meant I couldn't stay angry with him for long.
Tye also trained his little sister Snowflake to look after me just as he had done, although when Tye became ill, we decided it was time to retire him he didn't listen & still looked after me. Snowy does everything as he did, although if she can she'll lay on me (with being small) or right by my head I've been told. Snowy also has so many of Tybo's mannerisms since she's been around him since we had her at x8 weeks old (she's now 2½ yo)
Matt Snowy & I all miss him like crazy, as do the rest of our family & close friends, but he'll never ever be forgotten...a song which we remember him by is "See You Again" by Wiz Khalifa
