Race 2 Winter Series - Braes 17 December 2009
Twenty-one runners turned out for the annual Skye & Lochalsh Running Club Braes road run, covering just over four miles of undulating terrain. This race saw the return of last years’ male champion, Scott Kennedy, to collect points for the winter race series competition. Unfortunately last years’ women’s champion, Wilma MacRuary, is still out injured. The first male home, in a time of 26 minutes and 22 seconds, was Scott Kennedy to claim 10 points for the championship. Second home was Robert McCluskie (31.30) and third was newcomer Scott Templeman (31.37). The first lady home, with an excellent time of 33 minutes and 5 seconds, was Linda Kennedy. Fiona Macdonald took second (35.35) and third lady was Janette Tasker (37.37).
The championship is really hotting up with Robert McCluskie out in the lead with 18 points after two races. There is a three-way tie for second place with Scott Kennedy, Neil Turner and Neil Roberts all on 10 points. Fiona Macdonald currently leads the ladies with 18 points, followed by Linda Kennedy on 10 points. It all looks very exciting for the upcoming Isle of Skye 10k on Saturday January 16th.
