Looking After Sleepyhillock

This is one of the best kept graveyards in the North East of Scotland and is looked after by a small team of three soil technicians ( gravediggers to you and me).

The Chargehand gravedigger is Alister McHardy (see Photo above).

Alister works alongside Chris Cessford and on occasion another member of staff. When not gravedigging, staff attend to the upkeep of the cemetery. This includes, grass cutting, edging, planting, pruning, hedge cutting, spraying and various other tasks as they arise. The Montrose gravediggers are also responsible for burials in and around Montrose and Landward cemeteries (Dun, Farnell, Rossie Island, Maryton, Lower Logie, Rosehill,  Pert and Inverkeilor.
