Welcome to Scottish Amateur Winemakers

Scottish Amateur Winemakers is the organising body for winemaking in Scotland. It was founded in 1968 as theScottish Association of Amateur Winemakers Circles, the title being condensed around the '90s. We, however, remain an association of winemakers Circles, having a membership of thirteen Circles throughtout Scotland.

People have been making wine and other alcoholic beverages almost since homo sapiens occupied the planet. In more recent times, winemaking and brewing became a country craft and was considered the woman's duty. In even more recent times, science has been added to the craft, the knowledge gained allowing us to make wines comparable to their commercial equivalents and others that you cannot buy. If you are looking for a recipe click on the link below http://spanglefish.com/westofscotlandwinemakers.
