Painted Dog Conservation UK is a charity dedicated to supporting efforts in Africa to protect and increase numbers of Painted Dogs (also known as African Wild Dogs or Lycaon pictus) - an endangered species with viable populations left in just four countries, the last stronghold being Zimbabwe.
We help support the the work of Painted Dog Conservation based on the edge of the Hwange National Park in Zimbabwe, which is closely involved with the local community and one of the biggest employers in the Hwange area. In particular we support the Children's Bush Camp which provides education on the value of conservation to hundreds of deprived Zimbabwean children every year.
We currently have a position vacant for a Treasurer/Trustee. We're looking for someone with experience in a finance/accounting role, a passion for wildlife conservation and the ability to spare some of their time to help support our charity.
As Treasurer, your role on the board of Trustees would be to;
- Oversee the financial affairs of the charity and ensure they are legal, constitutional and within accepted accounting practice.
- Ensure proper records are kept and that effective financial procedures are in place.
- Monitor and report on the financial health of the charity to the Trustees.
- Oversee the preparation of necessary financial reports in conjunction with our bookkeeper and ensure they are filed in a timely manner.
In addition to the above, as a Trustee you will
- Share the responsibility of ensuring all monies donated to the charities are used in an appropriate manner.
- Be invited to represent the charity at numerous events across the UK.
- Be sure of a warm welcome at Painted Dog Conservation in Zimbabwe to see for yourself where the money we raise gets spent.
If you are interested in joining our team of volunteers - please email derek@painteddog.org with your CV and covering letter.
We will be seeking to interview in early 2016.
