December Singles League

Once again there were ten leagues in December with ninety four of the one hundred and ten scheduled games being played. Most of the leagues were very close with leg difference deciding many of the promotion and relegation places.

Twenty matches ended 9-8 with a further fourteen finishing 9-7 with newcomer Sam Caithness playing in his fair share of them. Sam played 65 legs in his first month winning all his matches to finish top of League 8. Stevie Linklater had the best leg of the month when he took out a 121 finish for a 12 darter in his 9-4 win against Bruce Moar.

There were six whitewashes during December with Erlend Lennie, Garry Peace, Leigh Shearer, Kenny Gillespie all recording one apiece with Jim Hamilton going one better with two 9-0 victories during the month. Jim easily topped League 5 losing only six legs setting a new League 5 record for the fewest legs lost in a month.

Twenty-three players scored forty three 180s between them with Stevie Linklater finishing top scorer for December with eight including three in his 9-4 win over Bruce Moar. Other 180 scorers were Neil Drever 4, Leigh Shearer 3 including 2 in the same leg against Kenny Gillespie, Ross Donaldson 3, Robbie Stanger 2, Iain Wilkie 2, Stuart Thomson 2, Brian Moar 2, Neil Twatt 2, Martin Peace 2 and Bruce Moar, Ben Hogan Richie Ballantyne, Mark Shearer, Shona Gray, Brian Murray, Craig Moar, Erlend Lennie, Paul Firth, James Flett, Derek Manson, Hippy and Michael Muir all had one each.

Fifteen players recorded twenty seven ton-plus checkouts with Brian Moar scoring the highest of the month with an excellent 156 in his 5-9 loss to Robbie Stanger. Brian also had 115 and 102 checkouts. Neil Drever 121, 114, 113, 105 and Stevie Linklater 121, 116, 114, 111 both had the most ton plus checkouts with four apiece. Others to score big finishes were Derek Manson 115, 109, 104, Bruce Moar 120, 113, Jim Hamilton 114, 101, Paul Firth 120, 110, Iain Wilkie 149, Mark Shearer 130, Leigh Shearer 125, Derek Farmer 120, Shona Gray 118, Brian Murray 107 and Erlend Lennie 100.
