 Parish Cup Rules

  1. The criteria for qualification is
    i/     born in the parish

    ii/    reside in the parish
    iii/   your mother’s usual residence on your birth certificate
    (see note vii)

  2. If a player doesn’t reside in the parish, proof of eligibility will be required. ie. a copy of the birth certificate.

  3. To qualify as a resident of a parish a player must have stayed in the parish for 90 days prior to the date of the players first scheduled match. Any dispute and proof will be required.

  4. The boundaries will be determined by the Parish Boundary Map 1971 with the exception of St.Ola and Stromness Parish. The parish boundaries of St.Ola and Stromness will be the same as boundaries laid down by the Orkney Amateur Footballing Association.

  5. Each Parish team will have to pay an initial registration fee of £25 to enter the Parish Cup. This payment has to be paid prior to the draw. If no payment is received then no team will be entered.

  6. All teams will be required to pay an annual entry fee of £15. No team will be entered into the draw until payment has been received. * reviewed 11/9/13

  7. Players will have to be registered. Registration books will be provided once the initial Parish registration fee has been paid. Registration books have to be handed in within seven days of the scheduled match.

  8. Tie to be played over one match. No home and away.

  9. First team drawn is the home team.

  10. The venue has to have two dart boards.

  11. Play last Sunday of the month. (Except December)

  12. All matches have to start at 2pm.

  13. All matches have to be played by the scheduled date.

  14. All matches will consist of three doubles and six singles games played twice through. Each player can only play one singles and one doubles per half.

  15. Each team can play up to 24 players on the day.

  16. Home team writes out the card first for the 1st half for the singles and doubles.

  17. Each game will be legs of 501, straight start, double finish and best of three.

  18. Bull up to see who throws first. The home player throws first for the bull.

  19. Mugs away in second leg.

  20. Bull up for deciding leg with away player throwing first for bull.

  21. Once the first half is complete the home team will fill out the card first for the second half.

  22. In the event of a draw one leg of 1001 will be played for by a team of 6 to decide the victors.

  23. The order of the nominated 6 players will be written down prior to starting the 1001 leg.

  24. The six players have to have already played or been listed to have played during the match.

  25. Bull up to see who throws first in the 1001 leg. The home player throws first for the bull.

  26. Scorecard is to be returned to the organiser within seven days of the scheduled match.

  27. Any breach of any of the rules may mean disqualification for the offending team and their opponent may be reinstated.

  28. Only one team per parish may be entered. b

 Notes:

  1. Venue for the final will be decided before the draw.                                                                                  

  2. The date or start time of the match can only change if both teams agree.                                       

  3. Due to ferry timetables it may not be possible to travel to/from the isles to play on a Sunday. In this scenario the match will be played on the day before. (Unless both teams have made an agreement to play earlier.)

  1. In the event of inclement weather affecting the ferries on date of the scheduled match then the tie will be given an extension of 7 days.

  1. If there are up to sixteen teams the competition would be played over 4 months – Oct, Nov, Feb, and March. If there are more than sixteen teams – Oct, Nov, Jan, Feb and March.

  2. In the event of a player or players not paying their annual £2 registration fee, their team may be expelled from the competition and the player or players concerned may be suspended until payment is received.

  3. In the event of adoption it will be the adoptive parent's usual address on the birth certificate. a
