'Seductive' and 'irresistibly glamorous' are the adjectives applied to the tree peony in the current issue of the RHS's
Garden magazine. The brilliant scarlet blooms of our
Paeonia delavayi (?) certainly fit this description. By chance – and good fortune – it was planted in an open border away from the overhanging branches of Acer 'Crimson King'. As a result, it grows larger and more spectacular each year.
