Garden Diary

16 January 2018Snow in winter

Our first 'proper' snow of the winter arrived today. After several years of mild winters with very few frosty nights below -2ºC, we are having a long spell of chilly temperatures.

I've just ordered bird seed/suet balls and 'buggy nibbles' from the RSPB shop to keep our many garden birds happy and — belatedly — sent off my order to Pentland Plants for plug plants to arrive the first week of April.

Now, it's time to bundle up and enjoy a walk in the snow with Bramley.

24 December 2017Welcome to Christmas

Outdoors, the garden is quiet except for the activity around the bird feeder (all the 'regulars' in attendance with the extra bonus of a sighting of a tree creeper yesterday).

Indoors, the stockings are arranged near the fireplace (no mantels in this house) in anticipation of a visit from you-know-who.

Our best wishes to all for a joyous Christmas and a peaceful new year.
