There was a time back in the 70`s when you could pick these enamel signs up at street markets or antique shops for as little as a fiver. How times have changed. Today you can expect to pay in the hundreds for a decent sign, and for a really good pictorial maybe thousands. But it`s not all about money for me anyway. I just love the history of them and never tire of looking at them. An anarak maybe but I know there are many more collectors like me. Here are a few on my garage wall.
Most of the signs I have collected remind me of how I came by them. I have collected a few from local allotments for nothing. IGardeners used to use these old signs to make their compost bins, but ardent collectors have scoured the allotments and there are none left now.
