Mohsen Amini

Mohsen Amini is a concertina player hailing from Glasgow, Scotland. Strangely enough he has no Scottish roots, with his parents being English and Iranian. He grew up learning music as part of "Comhaltas", a organisation promoting Irish music, song, dance and language, through which he became an All Britain champion on concertina. Upon exploring music, he has fused Scottish, Irish, Breton and Middle Eastern music to create his own unique style.

Mohsen is currently studying Chemical Engineering at the University of Strathclyde, where he met Ali Turner and formed the band Muran in late 2011 along with Neil Ewart. Muran picked up the title of "Best Newcomers" at HebCelt and soon played in Amsterdam and festivals all over Scotland.

In October 2012, Mohsen and Ali decided to start a new project, Neusa, in which they collaborated with Siobhan McArdle and Samantha Pake. The project is based around Scottish/Irish music but incorporates a wide range of musical styles, including jazz, funk, pop and classical music.

His main musical influences are Niall Vallely, Victor Wooten, Hans Zimmer, Ludovico Einaudi and LAU.
